NEO Jazz Sax Player Dave Sterner Debuts New Trio Tricotism

Northeast Ohio sax player Dave Sterner is a noted jazz musician, educator and composer who has performed in a variety of configurations in the last 30 years, ranging from big bands such as the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and Ernie Krivda’s Fat Tuesday Band to the swing band Red Light Roxy to his own trio, quartet and quintet. He’s released a pair of albums under his own name and appeared as a sideman on others.

He calls his new ensemble Tricotism. Ot’s an acoustic jazz trio that blends jazz with blues, Latin and swing tunes, offering its own take on pieces by Sonny Rollins, Thelonius Monk, the Beatles, Stevie Wonder and many more, as well as original material. His partners in Tricotism are two other seasoned area musicians: drummer Steve Renko and bassist Tim Lekan. He’ll be debuting the band at The Sixty at the Midtown Collaboration Center.
