Flute player Linda White and classical guitarist Robert Gruca comprise the Gruca White Ensemble, a duo known for its open-minded approach to classical music. They’re equally at home with composed and improvised music, and they fold in elements of rock, funk, jazz, Latin and world music. The Gruca White Ensemble is ensemble-in-residence at The Music Settlement where both are teachers.
Now the duo is releasing a multi-genre album titled A Different Take, which will be available for purchase on Friday November 13 Amazon Music, Apple Music and Spotify. It showcases their classically grounded but eclectic approach to music.
To celebrate they’ll be hosting a virtual CD release event on Zoom Friday November 13 @ 7-8:30pm. They’ll play some of the tracks, chat with composers and share some behind-the-scenes information. They’re also holding a couple of “drive-by” CD signing events, one on Saturday November 14 @ 2-3pm at 1287 Summit Avenue in Lakewood, the other on Sunday November 15 @ 2-3pm, at The Music Settlement’s University Circle campus at 11125 Magnolia drive.
