Brooklyn-based Lake Street Dive, a quartet of musicians who met when they were attending the Massachusetts Conservatory of Music, have a bit of the hip indie cache that comes from being based in Brooklyn. But, while they’re eclectic and have impressive chops, they’ve also got an accessible, pop-based appeal that makes them easy to like.
Though their roots go back a decade, the band’s momentum has increased in the last couple of years as they’ve committed full-time to LSD. Last year they signed with heritage indie label Nonesuch and released the album Side Pony, their fifth, in February, which topped the Billboard folk and indie rock charts. Now they’re back on the road —where they’ve spent a lot of time recently — and they’ll be coming to the Kent Stage. Tickets are $27 for the general public, $20 for college students — their core audience.
