Nothing says summer like a dose of reggae, especially if it’s played outdoors.
And all summer long that languid sound will drift out of the Music Box Supper Club on Sunday afternoons, as music lovers linger indoors or out on the boardwalk, as their preference dictates, take in the music and food and drink specials.
The Reggae Sundays series kicks off this week with the area’s best known reggae artist, Carlos Jones and his P.L.U.S. Band. He’s been a part of the Cleveland reggae scene for almost 45 years and led his own band for nearly 30, drawing crowds wherever he plays with his sunny, feel-good music and attitude. And this summer he’s got something special to share: a brand new recording called A New Day, put together during the pandemic and released just last month.
The series continues weekly through September 4, with such local and regional bands as Umojah Nation, Jah Messengers, One World Tribe, the Ark Band, Shake Ground (formerly Outlaws I & I), Ras Khalifa, Ghani & the Shadow, the Flex Crew, and Sun Shade. Admission is free.
