It seems like The Current Year Records and Tapes and its adjoining neighbor Rudy’s Strudel in Parma can’t get enough of street parties. They’d barely cleaned up from Record Store Day when they announced their Summer Parking Lot Bash, in partnership with Cleveland’s alternative rock station 107.3FM.
“Let’s not get drowned and turned off by the banality and predictability of the overarching global corporate culture,” says Michael Stutz, who owns The Current Year with his wife Marie. “Instead, we’re focusing on great indie alternatives based right here on the north coast. So we’re starting the summer off by celebrating these small businesses and creators that are totally Cleveland.”
The event will feature more than a dozen local vendors offering handmade and vintage items, including beekeeper Bittner Bees with honey-based products, Auntie’s Poppin’ Sweets flavored popcorn, Peace and Petals Florist, and tiki carver Ahilha Tiki, who will doing demonstrations throughout the throughout the day. Rudy’s will offer a taste of Parma hot pierogi bar, as well as free cake. You can meet TV personalities The Mummy and The Monkey, and 107.3 host Aaron Lux will be broadcasting from the event.
