No Exit New Music Presents a New Score to Classic Film "Metropolis"

Fri 2/13 @ 7-8:30PM

The 1927 silent film, directed and co-written by German director Fritz Lang, wasn’t your typical silent film of the era. The science fiction film drew on expressionist/futurist technique to tell a complicated, ambivalent story of the workers and the overlords in an urban dystopia. There’ve been several restorations including a 1984 version with a soundtrack created by Italian disco producer Giorgio Moroder.

METROPOLIS Reimagined takes that version and rescores it, minus tracks by Adam Ant, Pat Benatar and (ugh) Loverboy, with entirely new music created collaboratively by the ten composers who comprise New York City-based ICEBERG New Music. Pianist Jenny Lin and electronic artist Drake Anderson will perform the score to film the at Heights Arts, in a program presented by Cleveland’s No Exit No Music.

Like all No Exit programs it’s free and open to all.
