The next offering from local ensemble Radio on the Lake, which presents readings of classic radio plays, is a classic radio play based on a classic film: Sunset Boulevard. Most people have at least some inkling of the story about the fading film star Norma Desmond, descending into madness, and how she lures a young screenwriter into a relationship that ends badly. RotL will be performing Lux Radio Theatre’s 1951 adaptation and will include the vintage commercials for a complete old-time radio experience. Close your eyes and imagine sitting with your family around that massive old radio, where you’d close your eyes and visualize the story you were hearing — back before there was TV!
The group will perform the piece at the Dunham Tavern Museum. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the cast and crew so you can learn more about how and why they do what they do.
