Originally, the November Music for Miles matinee at Waterloo Arts was scheduled to feature local singer/songwriter/guitarist Istvan Medgyesi on sitar and area guitarist Joe Parker. But, they tell us, Medgyesi’s sitar had to be sent back to India for repairs, so that concert has been rescheduled for next year.
Instead Parker will perform what is described as “an atmospheric performance piece” with the working title A Cleveland Renaissance, which he composed with Matthew James Murphy for a Medwish benefit at the Rock Hall. They’re expanding and tweaking it to incorporate world music, rhythms and chants.
As usual, the family-friendly concert is performed with an intermission in which audience members can interact with the performers or grab a light snack from Callaloo Café next door. The concert is informal and free.
