A few years ago, Akronite Brent Wesley, known to many of us as soul singer Wesley Bright, noticed a vacant lot in Akron and thought it would be a perfect place for beehives. So he formed the Akron Honey Company in 2013 and began to sell the honey and then to make skin care products from the honey.
Having his own business connected him with other start-up entrepreneurs in the Akron area, so he invited some of them to join him for the Akron Honey Company Market Day at the space he now calls the Crestland Park Apiary. He calls it the “only market with soul” and it’s back! You can pick up Akron Honey Company products, along with those from local makers and producers Stray Dog Tavern, the Square Scullery, Every Blooming Thing Akron, NOTO, Ms. Julie’s Kitchen, 23 Karat Posse, Sweet Mary’s Bakery, Saint Augustine and Suds, the Garrett Candle Company, and Not Yo’ Daddy’s Mexican Hot Sauce. DJ Forrest Webb will be providing sounds, so come down and hang out.
