Mixed-media artist Christopher Kier, a Canadian who now works in Cleveland, is one of HEDGE Gallery’s stable of represented artists. He’s also the next to have a solo show at the gallery, called Totem, opening this week on Third Friday.
The basis of Kier’s work is encaustic wax on canvas and mylar, a process that gives a 3D quality to the pieces. For this show he’s also created found object sculptures, and used forms taken from architecture, urban detritus and nature to suggest symbols and shapes that reflect the title of the show which ill be on view through 12/27.
