ARTFUL Cleveland is an 11-year-old nonprofit founded to provide affordable studio space in a variety of sizes for artists with different needs. Until two years ago, it occupied at space at the old Coventry PEACE campus until all the organizations there were evicted.
Luckily, the resourceful group was able to purchase the former St. Alban’s Church just two blocks from their former home and moved in last year. While the build-out work and landscaping are ongoing, artists have moved in and creativity is happening everywhere.
While they aren’t quite ready to invite visitors into the space for large events, such as the art shows and sales they held in the old space, this weekend they are hosting an ARTFUL Artist Trunk Show in their large parking lot. The artist who work in the building will be showing and selling original artwork including prints, jewelry, ceramics and other handmade goods. And even though ARTFUL can’t hold big events inside the building yet, visitors will be able to tour the new building and check out how the artists are transforming the space.
