Learn About Growing, Cooking, Preserving, Animal Care and More at Lake Farmparks' Farmfest

Sat 7/11 @ 9AM-5PM

Lake Metro Parks Farmpark has been giving people an insight into the farming life for 36 years. And its Farmfest is a time when all those activities come together for an all-day experience. Many clubs, who offer activities such as beekeeping, spinning and weaving, will be on hand to share their passions. There will also be demonstrations of crafts such as spinning sheep’s wool into yard, how to garden in a small space, ice cream making, cooking with garden veggies, how to groom a horse, and a “science of breading making presentation” by Reveille Bakery. There will be plenty of animals to visit and several border collie demonstrations where these smart canines will show you why they are hired to keep the Canada geese out of parks.

There’ll also be tours of the Plant Science Center where you can learn how to preserve your harvest by canning and freezing and visit the hydroponic garden to learn how they work.

There’ll be food trucks onsite as well which don’t have much to do with traditional farming but which will help fuel you and your family to spend more time here. It’s free and open to all.
