Were you a club-goer in the 80s, inhabiting places such as Aquilon, Babylon a Go Go, the Pop Shop, and of course the Phantasy Nite Club, soaking up the new wave/pop-punk/goth sounds of the era? If so, you’ll want to go to the 80s Night Flashback event at the Mercury Music Lounge in Lakewood, hosted by DJs Scott D and Larry Szyms.
This night will be special to those who were regulars at the Phantasy, one of the main venues supporting local original bands in the 80s, such as the Adults, System 56, Lucky Pierre, Exotic Birds, the Times, the Pony Boys and many more. It’s being promoted as a tribute to Michele DeFrasia, whose family owned the Phantasy complex, and who was the main driver in keeping it up and running. She passed away from pancreatic cancer in March, and is fondly remembered by everyone who was on the scene in those days.
