The Cleveland Chamber Symphony’s next program is dedicated to celebrating the work of composers from Northeast Ohio., with a special focus on the work of 86-year-old internationally noted Margaret Brouwer. The program will include three of her works including a world premiere called City Life, completed specifically for this performance.
They’ll also perform her 2014 Inner Voices, and Mandala (which was given its world premiere by CCS in 2001). On the latter, they’ll be joined by the Ohio Contemporary Ballet (formerly Verb Ballets). The program will also feature Harold’s Trip to the Sky for viola, piano and percussion by Donald Erb (1927-2008), which debuted in 1976. Brouwer cites Erb as one of her major influences.
The concert takes place at the Cultural Arts Center at Disciples Christian Church. Admission is free, but they will smile gratefully if you make a donation. The program will also be livestreamed on their website.
