The monthly Bainbridge Swing dances at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls are a great opportunity to get out of the house, socialize, listen to some live music and get some exercise.
Doors opens at 6:30 and the swing dance lesson starts at 7. This way, whether you have dance experience or not, you learn all the basic steps and hit the dance floor with confidence at 8 when the dance starts to play. Each month, there’s another regional band that plays danceable music, usually in the roots rock/Americana vein. This month that’s Rachel and the Beatnik Cowboys, featuring big-voiced Rachel Brown. The band churns out a sound that embraces blues, country, jazz and rock among others.
They play until 10:30 and then if you like, linger on the dance floor a little long for Electro Swing, a half hour of song requests and line dancing. Come alone, come with a partner or bring the family. Everyone changes partners all night so you don’t have to worry. Kids are welcome too!
