Dobama Playwrights Group Presents New Play in Development

Mon 3/16 @ 7PM

Cleveland Heights’ Dobama Theatre, which presents new, cutting-edge and often socially relevant theater, also has a professional playwright unit called The Playwrights’ GYM. It meets monthly so writers can share what they’re working on and get informed feedback from other members. It currently has about a dozen members, including some very well-known local names and others we haven’t heard — yet.

This month, the program will feature a reading of a new work called HANWAY by Playwright’s Gym member Kevin Brewer who graduatedfrom Case Western Reserve with a masters in theater in 2002 and moved to New York. He has been writing plays for more than 20 years. The synopsis tells us that “HANWAY takes the audience to the English countryside during World War II, where four women who have been ordered to wait out the war in an isolated cottage, begin to reveal to one another the reasons why they were sent there.”

If you want to know more, show up at Dobama’s 2nd floor Arts Space at 7pm Monday March 16. It’s free and open to the public although a suggested $15 donation would be greatly appreciated.
