Rock Hall Movie Club Launches With Film About Soul Singer Luther Vandross

Thu 2/26 @ 6PM

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has hosted a number of film series, but now it’s kicking off a new one it called the Rock & Roll Movie Club. It offers more than just the screening of a new or iconic movie about music.

Each evening kicks off at 6pm with drinks, light bites and the chance to hang out and chat with other movie – and music — lovers at The Wall space on the 4th floor. Rock Hall staff will be on hand with some extras — maybe a discussion, a giveaway or some artifacts relating to the film of the evening. At 7pm, everyone moves over to the adjoining Foster Theater and settled into their seats to watch the film.

The first film in the series is Luther: Never Too Much, a 2024 documentary, about Luther Vandross, the soul crooner with the silky smooth voice who exploded onto the pop charts in the 1980s, following his 1981 debut solo album Never Too Much. His string of hits continued throughout the 90s, almost until his health began to fail in the early 2000s, and he won eight Grammys over the course of his career. Although he passed away in 2005 at the age of 54 due to long-term health problems, the film includes archives interviews with him, as well as from his collaborators and friends, such as Dionne Warwick, Roberta Flack and Mariah Carey (with whom he recorded the 1994 hit duet “Endless Love.”)
