Jilly’s Music Room in Akron’s Northside neighborhood is one of the premiere clubs for local bands to play in Akron. And now they’ve kicked off their Open Stages program to offer bands/artists a chance to get stage experience, work on their material on a real stage in front of an audience and showcase for possible future connections. It’s open to artists of all styles, and each artist gets 45 minutes (with three 45 minute sets each night) so they can stretch out and show what they can do.
They’ll have a house backline so you don’t have to haul gear, and house sound, lights and sound engineer. They’ll also promote your appearance — and there’s even a little pay. It’s a great chance to build a fan base.
All you have to do is check the Open Stage dates (currently April 15, 22 and 29), and sign up on the form on Jilly’s site. You’re welcome to perform if you’re under 21 but if you’re under 18, you need to bring a parents — and so do your supporters if they’re under 18. If you have questions email booking@jillysmusicroom.com or go to announcing-jillys-open-stages.
