Cleveland Chamber Choir Concerts Feature Songs About Love and Nature

Fri 2/6 & Sat 2/7 @ 7:30PM

Sun 2/8 @ 5PM

The Cleveland Chamber Choir, an ensemble of professional singers who perform music from the Middle Ages through today, are presenting three performances of a special program called “Love in Bloom,” inspired, they say, by love and nature, and just in time for Valentine’s Day. The music they perform ranges widely, including compositions by 20th-century British composer Benjamin Britten; 20th century Japanese composer Tōru Takemitsu; and contemporary composers Eric Whitacre, Morten Lauridsen and Brandon Waddles.

As part of their educational outreach, they will be joined at the performances by local high school choirs, the Kent Theodore Roosevelt High School Choir, a choir from Cleveland’s University School and a 28-voice honor choir made up of singers from seven Ashtabula high schools. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from each show will be donated to environmental organizations (Heights Tree People, Grand River Conservation Campus) in keeping with the nature theme.

They’ll perform at the Kent United Church of Christ on Friday, Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland on Saturday and Bethany Lutheran Church on Sunday. Go here for tickets.
