Fri 1/2 @ 8-9:30PM
Local vocalist Maria Jacobs’ 2024 album was called Back at the BOP STOP. So it’s not exactly a surprise that that’s where she’ll be performing this week, backed by an all-star jazz combo that includes pianist Rock Wehrmann, guitarist Bob Fraser, bassist Bryan Thomas and drummer Roy King. (Wehrmann and Thomas both played on the album.)
Jacobs, who lived in Los Angeles for more than a decade, before returning to Cleveland is also an educator who works with students in inner city Akron and Cleveland through Open Tone Music. She also teaches Applied jazz vocals at Kent State University. And in addition to jazz, she’s a contemporary Christian performer who released a jazz-influenced Christian album this past year.
Get tickets to the BOP STOP show here. It will also be livestreamed on BOP STOP’s Youtube Channel at showtime. You can also stick around for the monthly Jazz Jam which kicks off at 10pm.
