Author Mark Z. Danielewski hit the ground running with his 2000 debut novel, the very strange, multi-dimensional House of Leaves, a book that’s hard to describe: you have to read it. He wasn’t terribly prolific after that releasing his follow-up novel Only Revolutions in 2006, and then a series called The Familiar between 2015 and 2017, and The Little Blue Kite in 2019.
Now he’s finally published another, called Tom’s Crossing, which came out in October. Its synopsis says “Tom’s Crossing is a magisterial, page-turning epic that tells the story of two friends, Tom Gatestone and Kalin March, who embark on a daring mission to rescue a pair of horses set for slaughter. Set against the backdrop of the mountains surrounding Orvop, Utah, this sweeping tale is filled with extraordinary characters, the ghosts of the American West, and unexpected humor. It explores themes of determination, perseverance, and humanity in the face of long odds and adverse fate.”
Danielewski will be in town to talk about the new book at the Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Brooklyn Branch, 7619 Memphis Avenue. It’s free with registration, although at $40 VIP ticket gets you a copy of the book, VIP seating and signing line priority.
