Fri 11/14 @ 8PM
Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Dennis Van Crash is mostly known these days as the front man for Vanity Crash, the band keeping glam rock alive in Cleveland, where it had its first big fan base back in the 70s. But he has a long history, performing in new wave/synth pop bands the Times and Verdanzen in the 1980s, and the edgier techno goth band Queue Up in the 90s. Later he was the music director for Cleveland Public Theatre’s production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch which led to the formation of Vanity Crash, who’ve been going strong for more than 20 years.
But Dennis also performs solo gigs sharing a repertoire of his own earworm tunes mixed with songs that Cleveland loved back in the day. He’ll be performing at Cebar’s on North Collinwood this Friday, where he’ll warm up the stage for the Brian Hager Band featuring former Vanity Crash guitarist Hager, now doing his own original thing, and Lex Moda, who founded and fronted the Cleveland glam pop band Cellophane Jane. Admission is free.
