Jonah Koslen first became known to Cleveland music fans for his substantial contributions to the first three Michael Stanley Band albums when he was a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for that band. He wrote such memorable tunes as “Waste a Little Time on Me” and “Step the Way” on the band’s debut You Break It, You Bought It, and the title tune of their second, Ladies’ Choice, as well as the anthemic “Strike Up the Band, performed by Michael’s band the Resonators for years after MSB broke up, as well as “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Mind” on their 1977 live album Stage Pass.
Koslen has had a whole series of “second acts” after his 1977 departure from MSB with his own bands Breathless and Jonah Koslen & the Heroes, several solo incarnations and even a stint as a Jimmy Buffett-type singer.
Now he’s coming back to town to unveil a new/old album called Unreleased Tracks From The Stage Pass Era, a limited-edition vinyl-only album, which he’ll debut with a special evening at the Music Box Supper Club. He’ll open the evening by talking about the story behind this new album, playing side 1, and doing a Q&A. After that he’ll be back to perform side 2 live with his band. The album, signed by Koslen, will initially be for sale only at the Music Box.
