The Cleveland Taco Festival was a hit last year, so of course it’s back, returning to Jacobs Pavilion in the Flats for four days of eats, drinks and fun.
Nearly three dozen local taquerias will be offering a vast variety of tacos for all tastes and diets (including vegetarian and vegan); there will even be other types of food for those who, for some reason, come to a Taco Fest, but don’t like tacos: BBQ, shaved ice and something called “deep fried candy bars.” We’ll pass but you may be braved than we are! is there tequila? You bet!
In addition, there will be music provided by cover bands, but even better, Lucha Libre wrestling returns, offering this distinctively Mexican form of professional wrestling in which the participants were decorative masks. Also on the schedule: a taco eating contest and a hot sauce eating challenge, if you like to watch people suffer for the prize. And if you don’t want the kids to get any ideas about something they can force their kid brother to do, there’s a kids’ zone where they can take part in activities designed just for them, including games, craft and yes, of COURSE face painting. How many will ask to have their faces painted ike a Lucha Libre mask? And kids 10 and under get in free.
You can get your tickets here.
