Akron Pride may be one of the last of the summer’s many Pride festivals but no one will ever say it’s one of the least even though it’s one of the most recent, founded in 2017.
It’s grown explosively since then taking over a good chunk of downtown Akron including Lock 3 and Main Street. The Equity March steps off at10am from in front of the Spaghetti Warehouse and makes it way to the festival site at Lock 3
There festivalgoers will find two stages of diverse entertainment featuring drag shows hosted by Onya Nurve and Suzie Toot, bands including Girl Cologne and The Last Go Round Band, singer/songwriter and American Idol runner-up David Archuleta, Cleveland singer/songwriter Anthony Covatta, the cast of Millennial Theatre Projects’ Hairspray, Elek-Trik Dance Crew and many more. And of course there will be copious food, drink, vendors and booths by community groups offering information and support.
The long day/evening concludes with fireworks at 10pm.
It’s free and open to all people who accept and embrace all types of people.
