There’s yet another free outdoor concert series this summer with a host of big-name local bands and musicians, this one taking place in the heart of downtown on Public Square, where Downtown Cleveland is hosting the weekly event every Wednesday from July 9 through September 24.
It kicks off with one of the most promising young bands in the area, LoConti, a driving rock ensemble that balances classic and modern rock influences, offering music that easily appeals to a wide variety of listeners. The band, featuring the lead vocals of guitarist Henry LoConti III and Erin Donovan, has rocketed to the top of the local scene in the last couple of years.
But July alone features more groups that have been shaking things up locally including the infectious New Orleans-influenced horn/percussion ensemble Da Land Brass Band (July 15), expansive soulful rockers Apostle Jones (July 23) who are in demand everywhere, and one of the biggest voices in Cleveland music, bluesy rocker Becky Boyd and her band (July 30).
