Fri 7/11 @ 7:30PM
Lots of singers do Frank Sinatra tributes: his repertoire of classic standards was impeccable and always enjoyable to hear again. But the Sinatra & Porter: Night & Day show at the Music Box Supper Club should add an extra dimension beyond what you usually hear.
For one thing, it cherrypicks the best of his repertoire — songs by the legendary Cole Porter. And it supports them with the musicianship of players from the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, a 40-year-old ensemble that includes some of the top jazz musicians in Northeast Ohio, both old veterans of the scene and up-and-coming young guns. And on top of that it features not only reliable Sinatra tribute artist Lou Armagno who has done many nights of Sinatra music at the Music Box, but also rapidly rising jazz vocal star Ava Preston, now 20, who has been performing in area clubs since she was 12 and is now attending Juilliard.
Doors open at 6pm for dinner; show starts qt 7:30. Make reservations here.
