Snakes! You either love them or hate them — there seems to be no middle ground. When a snake is brought out at a nature event, people either line up to hold it, or leave them room.

If you’re in the group that is fascinated by them, come down to the Rookery in the Geauga Park District for a program called “Searching for Snakes,” hosted by naturalist Andy Avram. He’ll be leading the group on a two-hour trip into the woods to find native snakes as well as amphibians to study. Avram is known as an expert in finding and handling snakes so he’ll have plenty to show visitors as he shares information on what they contribute to our ecosystem.

No registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. And be sure to dress for the weather and a trek out in the woods— sturdy, closed shoes or boots are a must. For more information go to www.geaugaparkdistrict.org.
