Young Bluegrass Artist Mason Via Makes His G.A.R Hall Debut

Fri 4/11 @ 8PM

Raised in rural Patrick Springs in southern Virginia on the North Carolina border, 27-year-old vocalist/guitarist Mason Via came by his love of bluegrass music naturally — it was embedded in the culture of the “hills and hollers” that surrounded him. Both his parents were immersed in music, and his father was a bluegrass songwriter so naturally he gravitated toward making music himself.

He got his feet wet in the larger music world, touring as a member of Old Crow Medicine Show, a baby among veterans, and playing on records by Molly Tuttle and the Del McCoury Band, before releasing his own album New Horizons in 2022. He recently released a self-titled follow-up, featuring his own songs about the world he grew up in.

He’s currently on a tour which brings him to Peninsula’s G.A.R. Hall for his first appearance there. Go here for tickets.
