There’s been a lot of flux in. the local gallery scene these days. Most recently, the Kaiser Gallery in Tremont closed and then quickly reopened under new ownership. Now we’ve learned that Anna Young and McKenzie Beynon are closing their gallery KINK Contemporary, currently located in the Waterloo Arts District at 15515 Waterloo Road.
The two originally opened KINK at 78th Street Studios, moving into the Waterloo space, formerly occupied by Michael Loderstedt’s Photocentric Gallery, in the summer of 2022. In both spaces, the two gallerists focused primarily of the work of young and emerging artists, often giving them their first shows, including senior year exhibitions.
“While our physical space may be closing, our commitment to supporting artists remains stronger than ever,” says Beynon. She hinted that they will stay active through “future initiatives.”
You can come say a last goodbye to the gallery space at a community event on November 16. They’ll be cutting their commission to 20% to help support their represented artist, and they’ll be selling or donating their office supplies and materials as well. The gallery’s final is November 30.
