Sat 9/21 @ noon-10PM
As we see every September, Oktoberfests aren’t just for October — they’re a reason to take advantage of the (usually) nice autumn weather and drink beer for a couple of months.
So the next one on the calendar is next week’s Kent Oktoberfest presented by Main Street Kent. Downtown Kent on Franklin Avenue from from Erie Street to Main Street with be packed with beer and and food option and packed with revelers enjoying both. Two local breweries, Bell Tower Brewing and North Water Brewing will be pouring seasonal beers and cider. Area eateries will be alongside them with hearty German fare, among other things. And the Kent Fire Department will be selling food to raise money for the department.
Of course there’s entertainment, some of it ethnic, some not. The German Family Society Youth Group dancers perform at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30pm; with polka band (Slovenian not German) Patty C and the Guys playing between noon and 3pm. The Ben Gage Trio (3:30pm), Raw Sugar (5:30pm) and Country Honk (8pm) will also be helping to keep things lively. There will also be two steinholding contests at 3 and 5pm, with separate categories for men and women. Come cheer them on!
