Daniel Rylander is an Akron-based singer-songwriter who started out in a pop punk band about 20 years ago. But once that group broke up, he made the decision to focus on his songwriting, augmenting his writing by learning to play piano, guitar and ukulele. His decision to start recording his debut album was spurred by a song he wrote with his uncle in memory of his brother who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2012

That album, Strawberry Skyline, was released in 2013, followed by an EP Memoirs of a Poolside Romance in 2015. His second EP, How the Seasons Change Us, came out in 2018. He’s now following that up with a second full-length helping of his evolving songwriting, titled Between Consciousness and Blacking Out. It’s already available on streaming platforms. He’ll celebrate its release with a concert at the Rialto Theatre in Akron this weekend where physical copies of the album will be available. Great Day for Ducks and Chrissie Strong open
