Celebrate Hispanic Culture at Playhouse Square at Carnival in the Land

Sat 5/25 @ 3:30-6:30PM

Come on down to Playhouse Square’s U.S. Bank Plaza for Carnaval in the Land, a free event hosted by the Cleveland Play House to celebrate their current production of the musical In the Heights, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton). They’ve partnered with various local Hispanic organization to bring live music and dance performance, Bachata dancing demonstrations and classes with Bachatero Dex, crafts and other activities for kids, and food.

Crafts and other activities, including the dance lesson, run from 3:30 to 4:45 when the cultural presentations start including Elevando Raíces by Latina Image Leadership Program; Esperanza Lawyerettes; Cleveland Son Jarocho with AlmaVision: Cultura y Más; and Club Dominicano de Cleveland Folkloric Group. They wrap up at 5:30pm with a performance by the 216Stix drumline.

Of course, the Cleveland Play House is hoping to sell some tickets to In the Heights, with curtain time at 7:30pm in the Allen Theatre. You can request Spanish open captions on this day only when buying your tickets. Get them here.
