When it comes to Italian church festival, the Feast in Little Italy, hosted by Holy Rosary Church in August, may be the best-known game in town, but it’s not the only one. Over in Detroit Shoreway, Our Lady of Mount Carmel has been hosting its event for 97 years.
Of course, the centerpiece of the event, as with most ethnic church festivals, is the food — and there’ll be plenty of traditional Italian cooking. While you’re not eating, you can enjoy with casino games, bingo, a $5000 grand raffle, live bands and DJ music. There are activities, such as games, rides and inflatibles for kids, and for those who are devout, the mass and religious street parade take place on Sunday.
Admission is free so bring the whole family.
