Starting with its benefit, The Kurent Jump, on Saturday February 7, the Cleveland Slovenian Festival Kurentovanje now has a full week of activities leading into the festival itself on Saturday February 14. With the folks at the Slovenian National Home at St. Clair and East 65th, and the Slovenian Museum and Archives next door the main driving force behind the festival, most of the activities take place there.
Right in the middle of this busy week comes the Slovenian Wine Tasting, a festive, but more low-key event giving patrons the chance to enjoy the products of Slovenia’s craft winemakers and learn about the country’s production of wines “with minimal intervention, no chemicals or shortcuts, and many that are hand-harvested, resulting in bottles that are alive, expressive, and deeply tied to their vintage and winemaker.”
Khole Zolgharnain from Voyager Beverage and Floyd Adams from Laureate Imports will share information with guests as they taste five wines. If you really like one of them, you can purchase additional glasses. There’s be plenty of vegetarian-friendly charcuterie and appetizers, and each guest will get a souvenir wine glass to take home. Plus there’ll be accordion music to set the mood and help those wines glide right down the throat.
It’s 21 and over naturally. Go here to get tickets.
