Local Roots Music Duo Plays Folknet Concert in Kent

Sun 5/7 @ 7PM

The next concert in the Mountain Rose Concert Series, presented by Cleveland-based acoustic music nonprofit group Folknet, features a couple of performers very familiar to area music lovers: Jen Maurer and Bill Lestock.

Guitarist/accordion player/vocalist Maurer is best known for fronting the lively zydeco-style band Mo’Mojo (as well as the duo with Paul Kovac Boy=Girl and the trio of women called the Rhondas), while fiddler Lestock, who often performs with Mo’Mojo, has played with countless other area musicians and bands, as well as solo.

They’re promising an evening covering a range of roots music styles, encompassing both original and traditional tunes and probably some unique renditions of pop tunes as well. The concert takes place at Standing Rock Cultural Arts in downtown Kent. Doors open at 6:30 and seating is limited so get there early if you want a good seat. Or stand in the back and dance! Kids are welcome too. Suggested donation is $15, $5 for kids in a family with a responsible adult.
