Local Bluegrass Ensemble David Mayfield Parade Returns to Kent with Latest Lineup

Sat 4/15 @ 7PM

Like his sister Jessica Lea, who has earned acclaim for her dark, brooding, country-inflected indie rock, Kent/Akron native David Mayfield began his musical career as a child, playing in his parents touring bluegrass band. Like Jessica, he has built a significant national reputation, playing guitar, mandolin and singing. He toured for several years with progressive bluegrass band Cadillac Sky, and spent about a decade in Nashville as a session player before moving back to Northeast Ohio.

He’s always gone back and forth between rock-based music and hardcore bluegrass, and performed solo and in a variety of band configurations, usually under the name the David Mayfield Parade. His current lineup includes his longtime collaborator, two-time National Bluegrass banjo champion Steven Moore, along with mandolin player Keith Wallen, dobro player Ryan Wallen and upright bassist Graham Bell.

They’ll be performing at the Kent Stage. Go here for info and tickets.
