Back in 2016, Cleveland Heights photographer Greg Donley had a show at Foothill Galleries called Time Elapsed, which showed his impressionistic and semi-abstract works which exploring concepts around light and movement.
Now his newer work is back at the same gallery in a show called Still Moving. The title is a reference to his distinctive, cinematic images which feature sequences of still photos.
As gallerist Michael Weil says, “I like this concept of cinematic renderings because movies, after all, are photographic stills presented in rapid fire sequence — so fitting for Greg, as he seems to be always present and in perpetual motion whether cycling, strumming, writing, hiking, contemplating other artists’ work, or creating his own. The nature of photography is to reveal a place in time. Greg’s “still films” emphatically root the artist in the places being shown and invite the viewer to experience the moment of his journeying. Time continuously paused. Still Moving.”
The show opens with a free, public reception on Thursday January 26 @ 5-730pm. For early birds, there’s also a morning reception that day @ 8-10am.
