Sat 12/10 @ 2:30PM
Robin VanLear created and spearheaded events such as Parade the Circle. Holiday Circlefest and the Chalk Festival during her 30 years at the Cleveland Museum of Art as its Director of Community Arts. She departed from CMA in 2020 and has established her own creative company at the Coventry PEACE campus in Cleveland Heights; her puppets, stiltwalkers and masked, costumed dancers can be seen at events such as Dia de Muertos and Tri-C JazzFest.
She’s also bringing version of the events she created at CMA to Coventry Village, including a Lantern Parade similar to the one that once anchored Circlefest. It starts at 2:30 with lantern-making and writing workshops on the PEACE campus, where you can create a lantern for the 5pm parade and write a solstice story or haiku to add to it.
At dusk, 5pm, you can line up with your lantern and join the procession, led by drummer Don Davis and the Coventry Village Drum Circle. It starts at the PEACE Campus flagpole and wend through Coventry Village where the Jingle Bells holiday celebration will be going on all along the street. And yes, the giant puppets will be joining in. One back at the PEACE campus, there’ll be cocoa and cookies inside the building and caroling with the Singers Club of Cleveland.
It’s free and all are welcome to participate. Go here for more information.
