Rock Hall Hosts Celebration of Hispanic Culture

This weekend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame pays tribute to Hispanic Heritage Month will an event on its outdoor plaza that’s free and open to all to enjoy and learn about Hispanic culture.

From 10am-noon the ten-piece Latin City Soul band will perform their lively dance music which costumed dancers from the Puerto Rican parade wend their way around the plaza. Later, in the afternoon, there’ll be more dance performances by performers from the Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center, while DJFuse1 plays a variety of Latin and rock music from noon-2pm.

That’s all backdrop to a host of other activities, including raffles and giveaways from La Mega radio station whose announcers will serve as event emcees in both Spanish and English. Future Ink Graphics and the Cleveland Museum of Art will be sharing make-and-take projects including prints of a piece designed by Cleveland artist Alicia Vasquez especially for this event, and visitors can create chalk designs alongside artist Dante Rodriquez who’ll be chalking up a Dia de Los Muertos mural during the day. And various Hispanic organizations and others that serve the Hispanic community will be on hand with information.

Food? Good grief — you think there’d be no food at an event like this? Local chef Rosie Galaz of the new Pachamama Kitchen and Garden in Lakewood will be offering Chilian fusion food.
