In 2020, when the entire summer festival schedule was wiped out, GardenWalk Cleveland took place anyway. Even at a time of masking of masking and social distancing, people could grab a map and walk to home and community gardens and public green spaces. So it’s had an unbroken stream of annual events without a pandemic lapse.
And if you’re not one who likes crowds, GardenWalk is the event for you. It takes place in ten Cleveland neighborhoods over the weekend: five on Saturday and five on Sunday. You can download the map online or pick one up at the Information Station in each neighborhood. Then you can stroll as things catch your fancy and chat with neighbors, homeowners, gardeners and farmers as you admire their handiwork. More than 375 gardens are taking part this year.
On Saturday, you can visit Fairfax, Glenville, Old Brooklyn, Tremont and West Park; on Sunday the participating neighborhoods are Broadway Slavic Village, Clifton-Baltic, Collinwood, Detroit-Shoreway and Little Italy.
It’s free and takes place rain or shine.
