Art House Inc and the Young Latino Network have joined forces for an evening at the Julia De Burgos Center (2800 Archwood Avenue) called “Women Now.” It celebrates girls and women in the community, and features art projects, hair demos, & multicultural foods. It’s also part of the Big Read program who goal is to encourage community building and conservation through reading; they’ve chosen the 1984 novel The House on Mango Street by Mexican-American author Sandra Cisneros about a pre-adolescent Chicana girl growing up in Chicago.
