Trinity Cathedral Holds 9/11 Memorial Concert

Sat 9/11 @ 7:30PM

With 20 years having passed since 9/11, expect many tributes to this landmark (although the best is finally leaving the unwinable situation in Afghanistan after 20 years).

Trinity Cathedral, the Episcopal Church and cathedral of the Diocese of Ohio, located on the campus of Cleveland State University, are hosting a free program of music, prose and poetry honoring the memory of that day, those who lost their lives and the work of the heroes that responded and those who helped out.

Trinity’s director of music Todd Wilson and associate organist Nicole Keller, will play organ and piano, wile members of the cathedral choir will perform choral music. They’ll be joined by violist Claire Peyrebrune, English horn player Danna Sundet and percussionists George Kitely and Darryl Mika. The Very Rev. Bernard J. Owens, dean of Trinity Cathedral and priest associate, the Rev. Adrienne Koch, will contribute spoken portions of the program.

“The concert will include works primarily written by American composers, some with close ties to New York City including pieces by Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, Calvin Hampton, Gerre Hancock and Steve Paulus,” says Wilson. It will also include selections by J.S. Bach, John Rutter, George Thalben-Bell and Gabriel Faure

In-person seating is limited, and masks and social distancing are required. Reserve a seat here. The concert will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live and Trinity’s website.
