VIDEO: Kari Beery is Maltz Stop The Hate Teacher of the Year

Kari Beery teaches honors English in the Mayfield High School, and has been participating in the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage’s free Stop The Hate program in her classes for a few years. This year, Mayfield was one of the Stop The Hate Schools of the Year, Kari’s class won the Youth Sing Out Songwriting Contest, and Kari herself was named one of two Stop The Hate Teachers of the Year.

Kari spoke with CoolCleveland about the support she received throughout the program, the collaborations that the Maltz Museum set up with Roots of American Music and Lake Erie Ink to workshop with the students to help them with their essays and the songs they created, and how the awards and the process are helping her students and her school.
