Irish Cultural Garden

Sun 8/29 @ 11AM-6PM

One World Day is a tradition at Cleveland’s Cultural Gardens, which have grown in number and diversity in recent years, along MLK and East Boulevards in Rockefeller Park. It’s been celebrated since the end of World War II. Well, except not last year.

This year the daylong event is back with to amplify the Gardens’ theme “Peace through Mutual Understanding.” And it’ll be the first one since the new Gardens focal point, the Centennial Peace Plaza, was completed and officially dedicated.

That will be the focal point as well of the Parade of Flags as marchers in traditional costumes carry their country’s flags down MLK Blvd. starting at the Irish Garden and ending at the Plaza where the flags will be displayed. And the parade will include groups such as Indonesian, Brazilian, Japanese and Scottish who don’t currently have gardens. That takes place at noon. There’ll also be the traditional group naturalization ceremony.

After that, visitors will want to wander the Boulevard to check of the food, performances, vendors and educational activities taking place at the different gardens, and learn their stories from the groups that maintain them. The event is entirely free; parking is free as well. For more information, go to
