Sat 6/5 @ 9AM-noon
If you’re one of those people who are irritated by all the trash people throw into our landscape and want to do something about it, there are plenty of clean-up opportunities sponsored by local groups — a great chance to make friends with people of a similar mindset as well.
On Saturday June 5, you can join the group assembling for the 22nd Annual Big Creek Watershed Clean UP, sponsored by Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District and Big Creek Connects. Volunteers will be picking up trash streamside, meeting at 8:45am at Brookfield Park between Bellaire and West 130th; the Brooklyn City Fire Department at 8400 Memphis, or the Sow Road Picnic Area along Big Creek Parkway.
They’ll provide bags and work gloves; you should wear long sleeves and pants and sturdy shoes. Kids under 18 are welcome — a great way to set them on a course of responsible environmental stewardship — but must be accompanied by an adult.
Cuyahoga SWCD hosts several clean-ups throughout the year; to sign up for notifications email Meg at mhennessey@cuyahogaswcd.org.
