Piano Cleveland Hosts “The Quarantine Concerts”

The biennial Cleveland International Piano Competition began life as the Casadesus International Piano Competition in 1975, changing its name for the 1995 competition. Its next iteration, currently scheduled for July and August, will have yet another name: Piano Cleveland.

But the parent organization does much more than host the competition for young pianists ages 18-32, which now alternates on a four-year cycle with a contest for pianists ages 12-17. It also hosts a variety of concerts, and outreach and educational programs for all ages to promote love of piano music.

A lot of its upcoming events have been cancelled, although hopefully not the competition itself. But it’s currently hosting a weekly series called The Quarantine Concerts. These live concerts are streamed from Steinway Piano Gallery Cleveland each Thursday @ 7:30pm. They feature local musicians, with the opportunity for the community to support them with donations.

Go to Piano Cleveland’s website to find out who’s playing and to access the concert.
