The opioid crisis has gotten mountains of media attention, but it continues to ravage communities in Ohio and other states. The film Addiction looks at the crisis from a medical viewpoint, exploring how this disease has been fueled by access to heroin and prescription medicals,, as well as the deadly presence of fentanyl. It looks at the research being done on how addiction changes the brain, and how that knowledge can be used to treat addiction.
The film will be screened as part of the West Shore Unitarian Universal Church’s Social Action series, co-sponsored by the West Shore Addiction Ministry. As always, the film is followed by a discussion of the issues it raises.
The screening is free and all are welcome.
