Two Holiday Films Have Free Screenings at the Akron Civic Theatre

You know when this time of year rolls around we’ll be glutted with chances to see any film with a holiday theme.

There will be two holiday-themed film screening in one day at the Akron Civic Theatre. The 2003 comedy Elf, follows a man (“Buddy the Elf,” played by Will Farrell) who was raised by elves and his trek to NYC to find his real father. The 2004 computer-animation film The Polar Express, starring Tom Hanks in several roles, also involves a journey as a trainload of children travel to the North Pole to meet Santa.

Elf screens at 2pm; The Polar Express is shown at 6. There’s a holiday sing-along a half hour before each film, and patrons will also get free popcorn.

The movies are free, but tickets must be picked up beforehand, either at the Akron Civic box office or at sponsoring Wayside Furniture, 1367 Canton Rd. in Akron.
