Oddball cats become celebrities these days, so most people up on cat news have probably heard of Lil BUB, a cat with a genetic form of feline dwarfish which causes her limbs to be excessively short and restricts her movement, and makes her tongue always hang out due to a jaw malformation.
But people line up to meet her and yes, they pay to do so, which is why local all-volunteer cat rescue Tails from the City is bringing her in for a fundraiser this week for he second year.
There are two tiers of tickets. The full-day experience, limited to 100 people, includes a meet-and-greet with the opportunity to pet Lil BUB (seriously — you don’t have enough cats at home to pet? I’m petting one as I write this!), the chance to get a photo with Lil BUB and her person, a signed (?) Lil BUB photo, a bagel sandwich, coffee, juice and mimosas, and VIP seating for “The Story of Lil BUB” presentation, at which Lil Bub and her person, Mike Bridavsky, tell the story of their relationship, with videos, photos and a Q&A afterward. Tickets are $125. A $20 admits you to just the presentation.
The event takes place at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River. All money raised goes to help Tails of the City adopt out more cats and kittens through hosting educational events, kitten yofa and adoption events each weekend.
